Common symptoms include pain in the back and sides; headaches; urinary tract infections; hematuria; liver and pancreatic cysts; abnormal heart valves; high blood pressure; kidney stones; aneurysms in the brain; and diverticulosis in the colon.

The Ayurvedic treatment of this condition is aimed at treating symptoms, preventing complications and prolonging life. Medicines like Triphala-Guggulu, Panch-Tikta-Ghrut-Guggulu, Maha-Manjishthadi-Qadha, Saarivadi-Churna, Kuber-Vati, Varunadi-Qadha, Punarnavadi-Guggulu and Kanchnaar-Guggulu are used to treat the cysts. These medicines help to reduce the number and size of the cysts.

Herbal medicines like Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa), Manjishtha (Rubia cordifolia), Saariva (Hemidesmus indicus), Gokshur (Tribulus terrestris), Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Haridra (Curcuma longa), Daruharidra (Berberis aristata), Nimba (Azadirachta indica), Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata), Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia), Deodar (Cedrus deodara), Vishwa (Zinziber officinalis), Erandmool (Ricinis communis), Apamarga (Achyranthus aspera), Shalparni (Desmodium gangeticum), Prushnaparni (Uraria picta), Varun (Crataeva nurvala), Latakaranj (Caesalpinia crista), Kachnaar (Bauhinia variegata), Patol (Tricosanthe dioica) and Patha (Cissampelos pareira) can also be used for this purpose. Medicines like Varun and Latakaranj form the mainstay of treatment for this condition, and can be used equally well to treat polycystic ovaries.

Most patients having pain get relief with the above mentioned medicines due to shrinking of the cysts. Infection and bleeding in the cysts can be treated using medicines like Sukshma-Triphala, Gokshuradi-Guggulu, Punarnavadi-Qadha, Laxadi-Guggulu, Vasa (Adhatoda vasaka), Naagkeshar (Messua ferrea), Laxa (Purified wax) and Sphatik-Bhasma. High blood pressure can be treated using medicines like Sarpagandha (Rauwolfia serpentina), Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi), Sutshekhar-Ras, Dhamasa (Fagonia cretica), Arjun (Terminalia arjuna), Mandukparni (Centella asiatica) and Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera). Kidney stones can be treated using medicines like Hazrul-Yahud-Bhasma, Pashan-Bhed (Bergenia ligulata), Yava-Kshar, Mulak-Kshar and Karonde-Duudhi,

Other associated conditions like valvular heart disease, aneurysms and diverticulosis need to be treated separately using appropriate medicines like Trayodashang-Guggulu, Laxmi-Vilas-Ras, Arjunarishta, Kutaj-Parpati and Panchamrut-Parpati. Most patients having multiple, large-sized cysts usually progress to end-stage kidney failure, which can be prevented or treated using medicines like Chandraprabha-Vati, Saarivadi-Churna, Maha-Manjishthadi-Qadha, Punarnavadi-Qadha, Gokshuradi-Guggulu and Gomutra-Haritaki.

Ayurvedic medicines, given in combination with modern treatment, can thus help to control the symptoms of PKD, improve the quality of life and prolong survival for people.

A simple but a bit expensive yoga can be made using all therapatic properties intact and given with SV body tissues relaxant which has Amber-Yog included..

Currently Practicing the case..... The most common form of diagnostic kidney imaging is ultrasound, but more precise studies, such as computerized tomography (CT) scans or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are also widely used. In autosomal dominant PKD, the onset of kidney damage and how quickly the disease progresses can vary. Kidney imaging findings can also vary considerably, depending on a patient’s age. Younger patients usually have both fewer and smaller cysts. Doctors have therefore developed specific criteria for diagnosing the disease with kidney imaging findings, depending on patient age. For example, the presence of at least two cysts in each kidney by age 30 in a patient with a family history of the disease can confirm the diagnosis of autosomal dominant PKD. If there is any question about the diagnosis, a family history of autosomal dominant PKD and cysts found in other organs make the diagnosis more likely.
In most cases of autosomal dominant PKD, patients have no symptoms and their physical condition appears normal for many years, so the disease can go unnoticed. Physical checkups and blood and urine tests may not lead to early diagnosis. Because of the slow, undetected progression of cyst growth, some people live for many years without knowing they have autosomal dominant PKD.
Once cysts have grown to about one-half inch, however, diagnosis is possible with imaging technology. Ultrasound, which passes sound waves through the body to create a picture of the kidneys, is used most often. Ultrasound imaging does not use any injected dyes or radiation and is safe for all patients, including pregnant women. It can also detect cysts in the kidneys of a fetus, but large cyst growth this early in life is uncommon in autosomal dominant PKD.
More powerful and expensive imaging procedures such as CT scans and MRI also can detect cysts. Recently, MRI has been used to measure kidney and cyst volume and monitor kidney and cyst growth, which may serve as a way to track progression of the disease.

PKD is usually diagnosed by kidney imaging studies. While the incidence of renal cysts in children are rare, the condition is more likely to occur in individuals after age 50. According to a February 2001 article published in the Parkhurst Exchange, cortical and parapelvic cysts account for between 60 and 65 percent of all renal masses. Many times a person experiences no symptoms. In cases where pain, bleeding or infection occurs, the cyst may need to be removed. Kidney cysts are frequently caused by tubular obstruction. In most cases, a renal cyst is benign. Although it is rare for a benign kidney cyst to turn cancerous, a physician should carefully evaluate any cyst to rule out possible malignancy.

Symptoms

While some people with renal cysts may attribute lower back pain to the cyst, a simple cyst should not cause pain. If a person diagnosed with a complex cortical kidney cyst complains of pain in the lower back or groin area, or pain when urinating, it could be another condition. Constant pain could indicate the presence of a malignant mass, which means that any cancer present may already be in the later stages. Even if malignancy is determined not to be the cause of pain, a doctor generally orders a routine urinalysis and urine culture to make sure that groin or back pain is not due to infection or other medical condition.

Pain

Renal cysts grow slowly. However, when a cyst grows large enough and begins pressing on other organs, a person can experience pain. Large cortical kidney cysts often put pressure on the stomach and intestines, or on the kidney itself. In some cases, stretching of the wall of the cyst may be the reason for pain. Infection or bleeding from a kidney cyst can be other causes of pain. Infection causes kidney tissue to swell, stretching the renal capsule. The renal capsule is the thick layer of fibrous connective tissue surrounding each of the kidneys. This can cause a constant, aching type of pain. Flank pain, which is characterized as pain in the side that is felt somewhere between the lower ribcage and pelvis, is usually associated with kidney problems. Pain in the flank or lower back often radiates to the middle of the abdomen or the groin area just below the abdomen. Nothing to lose, everything to gain...

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you.
It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. When a person has Pulmonary Hypertension these blood vessels constrict, increasing pressure in the pulmonary artery (connecting the heart to the lungs) and creating a life-threatening situation. Pulmonary Hypertension causes the tiny blood vessels in the lungs to change and close off, preventing blood from flowing freely. Victims of Pulmonary Hypertension suffer additional stress to the right ventricle of the heart, which has to work harder and harder to circulate enough blood through the lungs.
Symptoms of Pulmonary Hypertension include shortness of breath (also called dyspnea), which can come about even with little or no physical exertion. Pulmonary Hypertension also causes fatigue, chest pain, dizziness and fainting spells. Most persons diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension die within three years of diagnosis, although new treatments and early diagnosis are extending that time somewhat. Currently, Pulmonary Hypertension victims may be able to survive for ten years or more following their diagnosis.
There are two types of Pulmonary Hypertension: Primary and Secondary. Both forms of this disorder are similar in all but causes: Secondary Pulmonary Hypertension can be attributed to a specific cause, while Primary Pulmonary Hypertension cannot be linked to a specific cause. Ironically, when the disease is classified as Primary Pulmonary Hypertension, it is often connection to diet drug use, although the causal relationship has not been clearly established, since doctors do not yet fully understand the mechanics of that link.
Pulmonary Hypertension is a rare disease, only occurring in around two persons per million annually. Because it is so rare and the symptoms are so common to other diseases, Pulmonary Hypertension is often diagnosed only in the very late stages. In fact, the average length of time from the onset of symptoms to a Pulmonary Hypertension diagnosis is two years. This affects treatment options, increasing the chances of mortality.
Treating Pulmonary Hypertension usually focuses on extending the life span of the patient. There are few drugs approved for the treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension, and they are extremely expensive. The most effective way to treat Pulmonary Hypertension is through a single or double lung transplant, but these procedures are also very expensive, and the wait for a lung transplant is too long for many Pulmonary Hypertension victims. In rare cases, a heart transplant may also be required, but the heart strain is generally reversed naturally following a lung transplant.
Because Primary Pulmonary Hypertension has been linked to the use of diet drugs such as Fen-Phen, victims may be entitled to compensation from the drug manufacturers. Primary Pulmonary Hypertension was known to have developed in weight loss pill users in Europe, yet American companies continued to market diet pills as safe weight loss options. Primary Pulmonary Hypertension victims are able to bring claims for
compensation, including the cost of medical treatment, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Awards in the millions of dollars for Primary Pulmonary Hypertension sufferers (or their surviving loved ones) are not uncommon. To learn more about Primary Pulmonary Hypertension and your legal rights, contact an attorney who has experience in working with victims of diet drugs.

PPH Explained
What is PPH?
Primary pulmonary hypertension, also known as PPH, is a rare disease that has no known cause and results in the progressive narrowing of the blood vessels of the lungs. There are no known cures for PPH, but treatment for the cardiovascular condition is improving. The lungs contain millions of tiny blood vessels called capillaries. These capillaries are extremely small, just wide enough for blood cells to move through. The capillaries are lined with what's known as endothelial cells that prevent blood from leaking out of the vessel. On the outside of the blood vessels are muscle cells that expand and contract as blood moves through from the heart into the lungs.

PPH occurs when the vessels gradually stop functioning as they are supposed to. This happens when the cells within the blood vessels weaken and allow blood to leak. This, in turn, causes the exterior muscle cells to constrict. The constriction gradually worsens, eventually driving up the pulmonary arterial pressure. The exact cause of PPH is unknown. However, a prevalent theory holds that the blood vessels react strongly to certain internal and external factors, causing them to constrict when exposed to these factors. Aside from fen-phen and Redux, the causes of PPH include principally congenital heart defects, portal hypertension, HIV infection, Collagen Vascular Disease, and intravenous drug use.

PPH began surfacing through the 1970s because of the latency period found to exist between drug use and PPH diagnosis of 4-6 years. Currently cases of PPH are still being diagnosed. Often times with PPH diagnosis it not immediate because early PPH symptoms are easily mistaken for other causes. This delay in diagnosis results in the disease progressing to late stages without proper treatment.

Secondary pulmonary hypertension (SPH) is the result of other types of lung disease, abnormal breathing processes or heart disease.
What are Heart Valve Defects?
When these valves are impaired, they can cause blood to be regurgitated into the ventricle and left atrium. The symptoms of heart valve disease may be subtle---existent in the presence of shortness of breath and chest pain. Treatment can include medication, a valvoplasty, or a repair of the damaged heart valves and/or heart valve replacement surgery.
